Rebecca Smyth (16) was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis when she was 14.
When she was first diagnosed with JA, Rebecca felt restricted and unable to play sport. Her symptoms include pain, stiffness and tiredness which can affect her everyday life. Although her arthritis has had a huge impact on her life, she still enjoys playing basketball to the best of her ability and that keeps her motivated.
Rebecca says that it’s important not to let arthritis get in the way of doing the things you love most and to do what makes you happy.
